A leading aspirant for the Ikono/INI Federal House Representatives seat, Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, has described the seeming political happenings in Akwa Ibom State as a battle between good and evil, between visionary leadership and deceitful people, whose aim is to continually suffocate the state by “milking it dry and being the only cock that crows.”

According to our reporter who chatted with him at a function in Ikono recently, Obong Ukpong-Udo said Governor Udom Emmanuel, a visionary leader that has the interest of the people of the state at heart, “would not compromise in the ongoing tussle for political relevance by some elements.”

He reeled out the achievements of the administration which focused on transforming the state’s infrastructure like roads, agriculture, education, health, security and entrepreneurship.

Obong Ukpong-Udo used the opportunity to call on the electorate in Akwa Ibom, particularly those of his federal constituency, to vote for the PDP, noting that the call was necessitated by the fight against the progress of Akwa Ibom by certain political element in the state.

He described the recent defection by Senator Godswill Akpabio to the All Progressive Congress (APC) as unfortunate, pitiful and saddening.

The National Assembly aspirant called on Akwa Ibom people to continue to support the policy thrust of the Udom Emmanuel administration, stressing that “Akwa Ibom State has been reformed to the right path of progress and prosperity by Governor Udom Emmanuel. We must do everything to keep it.”

Obong Ukpong-Udo described Governor Udom Emmanuel as a man with superb capacity, honest, gentle and one of the most credible Akwa Ibom leaders.

He said Akwa Ibom would in the near future be bailed out of ethnicity, poverty, crimes and insecurity whose seed was laid out of greed.
