Former Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Engr. Patrick Ekpotu, has been appointed Chairman of the Post Congress Reconciliation Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State.
In a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday in Uyo by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the State Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo, said “the committee is to handle issues that may arise from the nomination exercise for the different offices.”
Other members of the Committee include a former Governorship aspirant of the party, Senator Helen Esuene, Senator Emmanuel Ibokessien, Bishop Andrew Unwanta and Barrister Goddy Umoh.
Meanwhile, the 30th of September, 2018, has been scheduled for the primaries to select the Governorship Candidate of the party in the state at the uyo township Stadium by  mid day.
The statement also informed that “Only statutory and ad hoc delegates are expected to present themselves for accreditation at the venue of the primaries.”
“State party chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo has indicated that irrespective of the fact that the Governor is the sole aspirant to the office on the platform of the party, the nominations will still be held according to the guidelines of the party. He enjoined delegates to come with any government issued identity card and to arrive the venue on time,” the statement maintained.
The statement further said primaries for Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly will hold on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of October 2018 respectively.
