2019: I HAVE NO INTENTION TO RUN FOR ELECTIVE OFFICE – UMANA

Number one supporter and wife of Obong Umana Okon Umana, Managing Director of the Oil and Gas Free Zone, Pastor (Mrs.) Florence Umana, has put paid to insinuations around her 2019 political outing by saying, “I have neither interest or intention of running for any elective office in 2019.”

“The claim against me is a cheap shot by those who want to drag my name and that of my family into controversy. They should direct their energy and time to better purpose,” Mrs. Umana said.

Mrs Umana spoke to our correspondent by phone upon enquiry on a speculation in an online publication that she would be a running mate to a Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State.

The husband, Obong  Umana, also spoke to our correspondent by phone and said his wife has no interest in contesting for any elective position in 2019. He advised journalists to remain true to the values of professional journalism which enjoin all practitioners to report only the truth.

Our political correspondent notes that there has been a rash of untenable speculations and outright false reports about political permutations in the state and the nation at large as the build-up to another election cycle in 2019 kicks in.

The intention of most of the false publications is either to mislead the unwary or score cheap points by hitting political opponents.
