As part of preparations for the re-election of Governor Udom Emmanuel in 2019, one of the Chairmanship Aspirants in the last Local Government election in Mbo Local Government Area, Mr Sam Ediette, has called on the people of Mbo to support Governor Emmanuel in his second term bid.
Mr Ediette, a retired Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) made the call when he hosted the Concerned Peoples of Mbo at his residence in Uyo, at the weekend.
He also stressed the need for the peoples of Mbo to cooperate with the Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, an Mbo man, to help the Governor actualise his vision for Mbo in particular and the State in general.
According to him, the meeting was to thank Mbo people for their support during his chairmanship ambition and the need for them to be resolute in their support for the reelection of Governor Udom Emmanuel as there is no good alternative to Governor Emmanuel in 2019.
“After the last local government election, I never had time to express my gratitude to the people of Mbo for the support given to me even though I was not favoured in that election.So, I deemed it fit today (Saturday, April 14, 2018) to call them together and tell them thank you and that as the Bible tell us that the race is not for the swift, nor the battle for the strong and that it is all by chance.
“You know, if you were not favoured, does not means you were not fit for the office, but rather it was God’s will.So, that was why I called my peoples to thank them and tell them to always remain together and be united for the interest of Mbo and for the purpose of reelecting His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel for second term come 2019”, Mr Ediette stated.
Describing Governor Emmanuel as a pragmatic and visionary leader, the retired Police Officer thanked the Governor for recognising good qualities in Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem as Secretary to the State Government.
Mr Ediette expressed his appreciation to the Governor for rehabilitating the deplorable Enwang-Ibaka road as well as Etebi-Enwang road that work is ongoing, among others roads in Oron urban.
Besides, he lauded Governor Emmanuel for the prompt payment of workers salaries and payment of leave arrears of pensioners and retirees.
Speaking separately, the people thanked Mr Sam Ediette for convening the meeting, describing the gesture as unprecedented and pledged their support to the second term bid of Governor Udom Emmanuel come 2019.
