Ikot Ekpene Chapter and Ward Executives of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) were hosted by the State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr Nse Essien, at his Amayan country home on Sunday.

The meeting, Ibom Telegraph learnt, was to enable the Science and Technology Commissioner have a one-on-one interface with members of the party in Ikot Ekpene and to also ensure a model for the actualization of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s 2019 bid is put in place.

Dr Essien said it was necessary for the party’s leadership in the various wards as well as stakeholders to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration and National Identity Card exercise, adding that it will ease mobilization for the second term bid of the Governor.

He charged the party to be unity and carry all its members along, adding that “the envisage success of the party is hinged on our unity and the need for understanding within the party.”

Dr Essien lauded the decampees from the opposition party to the PDP family for their decision and effort to key into the policy thrust of the Udom Emmanuel-led administration, expressing optimism that more will still come back.

The Science and Technology Commissioner, who expressed delight for the turnout despite the short notice, thanked members of the party and appealed that the meeting be made more regular for proper synergy.

In his remarks, the Ikot Ekpene Chapter Chairman of the party, Mr. David Okon, thanked the Commissioner for hosting members of the party and assured that there will be a closer working relationship.

While enumerating some of the challenges before the Chapter to include accommodation, financial assistance to members, Mr. Okon said the party will go all out to redeem its “loss members” and ensure a landslide in 2019 elections.

Others who spoke including the Woman Leader, Obonganwan Abigail Anthony; Youth Leader, Comrade Lawrence Isang, and Chairman of Ward Chairmen, Mr. Idorenyin Udofa, gave testimonies of the Commissioner’s benevolence, show of love and urged him to continue in the path.
