“We have seen that President Buhari has failed Nigerians, he has not achieved any of his campaign promises since he became the President of Nigeria for over three years now, Dollar keeps increasing, Terrorism rises in high pace, poor political leadership, economic recession and insecurity in the land.”
The Akwa Ibom State Coordinator of ‘Atiku Connect Naija 2019 Campaign Organization,’ Comrade Iwok, EtopAbasi, on Wednesday, declared his decision to fully throw his weight behind the Presidential flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Governor Udom Emmanuel in the forthcoming general elections.
Comrade Iwok made his stance known to the public during a press briefing with newsmen. Also in attendance were the coordinators of The Atiku Connect Naija 2019, which covers the 31 Local Government Area Coordinators.
Part of the information contained in Iwok’s report states his decision to support Gov. Udom Emmanuel as governor Akwa Ibom State come 2019. Iwok stated clearly that his decision to support the PDP most prominently the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubbakar is because of his expertise and poise in delivering human centered leadership to Ngerians. He made it known that Atiku’s experience as both a politician and successful business man will help to rebuild the broken walls of Nigeria’s economy.
Part of the speech reads as thus ” Atiku is a seasoned politician, whose experience too in good number of businesses will help in shaping the Nigeria of our dream. It’s time to get Nigeria working again. It was everyone’s expectation that the Change promised by President Buhari’s government was going to be favourable for our collective good, but we have come to realize that Buhari is playing politics with the growth of Nigeria. He keeps blaming the past government even after being on the saddle as Nigeria’s president for almost four years with absolutely nothing to show for it”
Members of the group were strictly admonished to be focused in their support of the Presidential candidate, the State Governorship candidate, and all PDP flag bearers at the State and National levels during the forthcoming elections. He used the opportunity to forbid members of the Atiku Connect Naija 2019 to be distracted by any other political party who may wish to woo them with money or other incentives to renege in their support for the PDP candidates.
At the press briefing, the Local Government Coordinators were unanimous in their resolve to work hard in support of the Party’s candidates during the campaigns and the actual elections. Mr Iwok informed that the group has more than 10,000 supporters in each of the 31 Local Government Areas of the State, covering all the chapters, wards and units, who are eligible to vote cine election days with their permanent voters’ cards.
The State Executive Council of the group had already undertaken private visits to all the Local Government Areas, wards and units to determine the level of preparedness of the electorates to support the PDP during the elections, and the outcome of such visits had encouraged the group to do more to ensure the victory of all the PDP candidates during the elections at all levels.
The State Coordinator, Comrade Iwok, an indigene of Oruk Anam Local Government Area, in a special remark declared his support for the election of Rt. Hon. Elder Udo Kieran Akpan for the State House of Assembly, Mr Unyime Idem, for the Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, and His Excellency Engr. (Dr.) Chris Ekpenyong, for Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District. He used the occasion to urge all eligible voters from the 31 Local Government Areas in the State, and especially those from Oruk Anam and Ukanafun Local Government Areas to support all the PDP candidates during the general elections.
To buttress the group’s support for Governor Emmanuel, the State Coordinator described the State Governor as a man who does not play politics with the future of Akwa Ibom people, or with infrastructural development of the State, hence his decision to supporting Governor Emmanuel remained sacrosanct.
He thanked the Governor for his foresight in industrializing the State to create wealth for our teeming youths, and for maintaining the peace and security of the State. ”
