Governors of the South-South and South-East geopolitical zones of Nigeria, leaders and stakeholders of political parties are billed to converge in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital, on the theme “Strengthening Regional Democracy Through Inter-Party Dialogue”. 

 

Speaking with IBOM TELEGRAPH in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), who is also Chairman of the South-South/South-East Zonal Joint Council, Christ Ambassador Martins Inyang, said the maiden event, which will run for three days at the Ibom Le-Meridien and Golf Resort, will also afford participants the opportunity to discuss key political issues affecting Nigeria’s polity.

 

“It is going to be a-three day event where perspectives on topical national issues will be discussed and solutions proffered. Our aim is to reshape the narrative of party politics and strengthening democracy in the region. The event will also give clearer understanding of political problems within and outside the zones and will also provide possible solutions to them,” Christ Ambassador Inyang hinted.

 

The Akwa Ibom IPAC Chairman lauded Governor Udom Emmanuel, who is also the Chief Host of the event, for his support to ensure the event is held in the state.

Speaking further, Inyang said “This event will mark the first time in the history of Nigeria, where National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), leaders of thought, key stakeholders in the zones among others will converge to discuss political issues.”

 

The IPAC Chairman also informed that papers will be presented and communiqué issued.
