Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Enang, has countered Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on the signing of the 2017 budget.

He said the budget will be signed by President Buhari and transmitted to Osinbajo for other formalities.

“The President will assent to the budget, the acting President is in office and when the budget is transmitted, it will go through the processes and all those other questions will answer itself.”
In a swift reaction to Senator Enang’s view, the Minister for Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Muhammed, in a release signed by his Special Assistant, Mr. Segun Adeyemi, countered.
According to the release, “This is a malicious misrepresentation of what transpired at the post-Federal Executive Council Meeting press briefing on Wednesday, 17 May 2017.”
When the Minister was asked a question relating to the signing of the 2017 Budget, his response was: ”When it is transmitted to the Presidency, the issue will be addressed.”
The release further said “Anything beyond that response amounts to deliberate mischief and should be ignored.”
