WHY I DID NOT ATTEND G-22 MEETING – BARR. ASUQUO OKPO

Barely 24 hours after the reunion meeting of the G-22 aggrieved Governorship aspirants in the 2015 Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) primaries in Akwa Ibom State, a member of the group, Barrister Asuquo Okpo, alleged to be the brain behind the many sponsored attack on the appointment of Mr. Nsima Ekere as the Managing Director designate of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has described the meeting as a gathering that lacks merit and agenda.
In his words: “the G-22 was a group formed by aggrieved aspirants in the 2015 elections. That election is over and some of the members are in APC; some in Labour Party while some are still in the PDP. I do not know what the agenda of the meeting was and who called it. So, my non-attendance of the meeting has nothing to do with Nsima Ekere’s appointment. It is personal.”
On the connection between his non-attendance at the meeting and his opposition to the Ekere’s appointment, Barrister Okpo said there was no such connection.
According to him, “whatever my view on the NDDC appointment is, you guys will soon know. But, injustice done against one anywhere is injustice against all everywhere. Let us join and fight for justice.”
But an anonymous source that is also a relation of Barrister Okpo said “we have perfected plans to sponsor litigations against the Federal Government over Nsima Ekere’s appointment, which is the height of insensitivity towards the Oron people.”
