PENGASSAN/NUPENG SHUTDOWN PETROLEUM PRODUCTS TO AKWA IBOM

The Port Harcourt Zone of Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) have shutdown supply of petroleum products to Akwa Ibom State following the sack of 20 of its members from Universal Energy Resources Limited by Seven Energy.

A protest statement signed by the National IRO of NUPENG, Comrade Bassey Harry, last week, confirmed this.

The statement said it will deploy all legitimate resources to fight its cause, including solidarity strike action by Petrol Station Workers across Akwa Ibom State and non-delivery of petroleum products to the state by Petroleum Tanker Drivers should Management of this company fail to reinstate their members within 72hours from today.

“By this, the Government under the excellent leadership of His Excellency, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom state, the public and good people of Akwa Ibom State should hold Seven Energy Exploration and Production Company /Universal Energy Resources Limited Management totally responsible for any negative impact on economic activities in the State as a result of their unfair Labour practices and threat to the lives of our members,” the statement concluded.
