The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Etinan Federal Constituency had resolved to obey the PDP constitution as it affects zoning and rotation of political offices among various constituents in the geo-political area.
This affirmation took place in the homes of the three Chapter Chairmen of Etinan, Nsit Ubium and Nsit Ibom where all the chapter officers gathered to receive ‘Team Ide Owodiong’ on Wednesday.
According to the Director General of the Team, Otuekong Emmanuel Ibiok, “we are starting this Akwa Ibom North-East (Uyo) Senatorial District political interaction with Etinan Federal Constituency because I know that this constituency is always known for justice, equity and fairness. Zoning is an integral democratic arrangement as far the PDP is concerned. And that was a deliberate calculation to ensure that there is peace and equal right in our party and as party men we cannot afford to undermine that enduring legacy of the party.”
“I am saying this because I have been a major player for the past years. I have been involved at the fore in the various calculations and equitable zoning arrangements that have produced Governors, Senators, House of Representatives members, House of Assembly members, Local Government Chairmen, even to the National Convention and National Committees,” he stressed.
In his opening remarks, the Director General said “First of all let me on behalf of my delegation convey to you our unalloyed loyalty to the leader of our state, Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel for we will support him with ourselves and our households and with everything God has endowed us with to succeed in his second term come 2019.”
Otuekong Ibiok informed the party executives that Itu/Ibiono Federal Constituency, where the incumbent Senator Bassey Albert hails from, shall be completing its eight years in the Senate in 2019, while Etinan Federal Constituency did eight years with distinguished Effiong Bob and that for the sake of peace, justice and fair play Uyo Federal Constituency should be supported to occupy the senate seat in 2019.
The Chapter Chairman of Nsit Ubium, Aniefiok Johnny and his executive thanked Team Ide Owodiong for coming to discuss how to deepen party democracy in the senatorial district, saying “The Governor has always been hammering on zoning in the state and we shall support the stance of the Governor.”
In Etinan, the Chapter Chairman, Honourable Inemesit Itina and others who spoke thanked the Team for coming to interact with the party and gave assurances that their request shall be taken to the leaders of the party in the chapter.
Honourable Nsikak Nyong Ikpe, the chapter chairman of the PDP in Nsit Ibom welcomed the team in his house and assured them that “your request shall be channeled to the former military governor of Akwa Ibom state, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga, who is the political leader of the area and we shall abide with whatever decision is taken.’.
