ULAETO LAUNCHES ‘UPENEKANG UNITY SOCCER TOURNAMENT,’ PREACHES UNITY

Councillor representing Upenekang Ward-1 in Ibeno Local Government Area on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Samuel Ulaeto, has launched a football tournament for youths within the area at the foremost Q.I.C Central School, Ibeno Local Government Area.

According to Mr. Ulaeto, who also the Deputy Leader of Ibeno Legislative Council, the event, tagged “Upenekang Unity Soccer Tournament,” is aimed at promoting peace, taking youths of the area off social vices, keeping them focus on the reelection bid of Governor Udom Emmanuel, creating stronger bond of unity amongst the families and developing talents for future events.

Explaining further, Mr. Ulaeto said the “tournament is designed to serve as an avenue of getting raw talents sourced. It will also provide immense benefits to our youths.”

He maintained that the tournament was also part of his effort, as a member of the PDP, to mobilize support for Governor Udom Emmanuel and all other candidates of the party in the 2019 elections.

Performing the kick-off, the Ibeno Local Government Council Chairman, Pastor Ifum Henry, who was represented by the Council Secretary, Mr. Godwin Enyina, lauded the Councillor representing Upenekang Ward-1 for the initiative, adding that “Ibeno is blessed with great talents. We must harness them into super stars to be reckoned with all over the world.”

Pastor Henry said sports is a vital tool for nation building and also canvassed for the tournament to be used in promoting peace and unity as well as the good work of the PDP government in the state.

According to the fixture of the tournament, Group-A has Ateng-Idung, Atasi an Inyangetor/Okpudu, while Group-B has Odorokuku, Odoro-Ikot and Usiak-Ifia.

Meanwhile, in the first match, Atasi played 2 – 1 with Ateng-Idung.

The kick-off ceremony was witnessed by Special Assistant to the Governor on Project Monitoring, Mr. Ekoakwaha Etteh; Leader of Ibeno Legislative Council; Grace Ekpe; House Leader, Mr. Emmanuel Mkpah; Deputy House Leader, Anthony Okon; Deputy Chief Whip, Mr. Ikpe Ebrewong; Mr. Peter Inyang; Ibeno PDP Chapter Chairman, Mr. Emah Ibok; Elder Utip Ekong, Enyina Hekins among others.
