Youths, women and stakeholders of Ukana East in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, who gathered at Akai Nkuku Community Hall ground, have assured that their votes in the 2019 elections will be for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which guarantees security, peace and prosperity of the area.
They made their position known on Tuesday during a reception in honour of the party’s Presidential (Alhaji Atiku Abubakar), Governorship (Mr. Udom Emmanuel), Senatorial (Engr. Chris Ekpenyong), House of Representatives (Atuekong Nsikak Ekong) and House of Assembly (Barrister Esse Umoh) candidates who were on Ward Tour of the area.
Speaking with newsmen during the event, Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Project Monitoring, Comrade Martins Inyangetoh, said “it is a victory celebration for the people of Ukana East who are in total support of PDP and all its candidates.”
Comrade Inyangetoh said “the people of the area have been overwhelmed by the sterling strides of Governor Udom Emmanuel-led PDP government and the only way to express their gratitude and indebtedness is to reelect him for a second term in office alongside other candidates of the party.”
He thanked the people of the area for their avowed support, commitment, dedication, steadfastness and solidarity to Governor Emmanuel and the PDP.
In setting the tone for the event, the Ukana East Ward Chairman of PDP, Elder Unwana Nkrok, said PDP is the only party that has credible candidates for 2019 elections.
He tasked the people to vote development, progress, justice, equity and peace through PDP.
In his remarks, the political leader of Ukana East and former Commissioner in the erstwhile Cross River State, Abom Emmanuel Umana, who spoke on behalf of elders, thanked the PDP candidates for consulting with the people of the area, assuring that their votes was intact for PDP.
In their separate remarks, Mr. Ekom Okure, who spoke on behalf of the youths, and Mrs. Mary Joseph, who spoke on behalf of the women, said Ukana East will go all the way with PDP and all its candidates.
Earlier, the candidates, Atuekong Ekong and Barrister Umoh, said consulting with the people of Ukana East was a home coming for them and a thing of utmost joy.
While promising the people of the area, particularly women and youths, sustainable empowerment and development, they said a vote for Governor Emmanuel and PDP is a vote for equity, justice, peace, progress and prosperity for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
Those who witnessed the event included the Essien Udim PDP Chapter Chairman, Cyril Peter; Leader of Essien Udim Legislative Council, Hon. Uduakobong Umoh; Sir Joe Umana; Ward Chairmen among others.
