RHAB-YESS FOUNDATION REWARDS BEST GRADUAND OF SMASCO

The Overall Best Student of St Mary’s Senior Science College (SMASCO), Ediene Abak, Master Princewill Godfred Akpan, has been rewarded with cash prize by the RHAB-YESS Foundation.

The 2021 graduation and cash prize-giving ceremony, which took place on Saturday, 11th December, 2021, at College Assembly Hall, witnessed Graduands being rewarded for their outstanding performances.

Master Princewill Godfred Akpan the overall best student received a cash prize of N200,000 from the Foundation, a brainchild of the Speaker of the 7th Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Aniekan Bassey, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the event.

Represented by the Executive Chairman of Uruan Local Government Council, Hon. Surveyor Iniobong Ekpenyong, the Speaker also awarded Master Akpan with N50,000 for emerging Best Student in Geography, being one of his most loved subjects back in his days at SMASCO.

In honouring Master Akpan, the Speaker expressed optimism that the prize will inspire Nigerian students to make excellence their cardinal objectives.

He charged the awardee and other Graduands to avoid social vices, stay focused and be good ambassadors of the College, noting that the world would stand on its feet for them when they leave up to the expectations of their parents, college and the society at large.

The 2021 graduation and prize-giving ceremony, themed Raising Global Leaders on a Local Platform, had in attendance the Staff Adviser, Mr Ezekeil Aquaowo; Principal General, Sir Isidore Pius Udonnah; College Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Daniel Inyangettoh; SMASCO Parents Teachers Association, Mr Aniekan Edet; Rep of SMASCO Class of 1996; Rep of SMASCO Class of 2001 & 1991, among others.
