POST COVID-19 ECONOMY: “UDOM WORKING THE TALK” – ETTEH

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Special Duties, Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, has said “Governor Emmanuel has gone beyond keeping to his campaign promises to working the talk” as he repositioned the state’s economy.

According to Rt. Hon. Etteh, “barely few days after the inauguration of the Post COVID-19 Economic Recovery Committee, the Governor, in his drive to diversify the state’s economy through the aviation sector, has added another CRJ900 aircraft to the fleet of IbomAir, the state’s home carrier. This is going to be a boost to our IGR.”

The Commissioner, who made this known on Thursday during a telephone conversation with the Managing Editor of Ibom Telegraph, Mr. Nsidibe Akpan, further informed that “another aircraft is expected within the next three weeks.”

He said “only a focused, dedicated, efficient and effective Leader could do this. At this critical time, where the global economy is in the hibernation mode, only a government with our kind of leader can take delivery of a new passenger aircraft.”

Rt. Hon. Etteh also hinted that the Governor’s determination and commitment to the development and progress of Akwa Ibom, has further proven that the constitution of the Economic Recovery Committee was well thought out, saying “the arrival of the flight is a clear indication of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s determination to reboot the state’s domestic economy as soon as possible.”

“I have heard many people questioned the wisdom behind the purchase of an aircraft in the face of a dwindling global economy. And my answer to them is foresight. The wisdom is very clear and it is tied to Governor Udom Emmanuel’s economic blueprint, which is the fulcrum of his industrialization thrust. He promised to reboot our economy and he has kick-started it through the aviation sector by acquiring this aircraft. It will certainly spin our IGR,” he explained.
