Stakeholders of Ibeno Local Government Area have said their support, dedication and commitment to Governor Udom Emmanuel’s Completion Agenda and the ideals of the pan-Akwa Ibom State grassroots mobilization group, Maintain Peace Movement (MPM), remain unshakeable and unwavering.

This was made known on Wednesday during the inauguration of the Steering Committee of MPM, Ibeno Chapter, at the Ulok Ulok Hall, Council Secretariat, Upenekang.

In his remarks, the newly inaugurated Coordinator of MPM in Ibeno, Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, who expressed gratitude to Governor Udom Emmanuel for sustaining peace in the state, prayed God make easy the enormous responsibilities before him as coordinator.

While appealing to the people of the area to remain hospitable, peace loving and united, Rt. Hon. Etteh maintained that “the responsibility of sustaining development, peace and living in harmony in Ibeno is the task of everybody in Ibeno. Development can only thrive in a peaceful atmosphere and the people of Ibeno will go all the way with the ideals of MPM.”

Addressing the people, the National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Chairman of MPM, Barrister Emmanuel Enoidem, said “Ibeno remains the heartbeat of Nigeria’s prosperity and a cardinal component to Akwa Ibom State.”

“MPM is the culture of peace, security, prosperity and progress. Ibeno has always been known for peace. Ibeno is also the stronghold of the PDP. The objective of MPM is to enable Governor Udom Emmanuel succeed in his succession plan. It is also our responsibility to ensure the people of Akwa Ibom take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise as organized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),” he maintained.

He further inaugurated the MPM Steering Committee in Ibeno and charged members to spread the ideals of the group to every nook and crannies of the area.

The inaugurated Committee has the State Commissioner for Special Duties, Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, as Coordinator and Hon. Sunday Etor Isokobo as Secretary.

Other members of the Committee include High Chief William Mkpah, Dr Dorothy Thompson, Mrs. Grace Ekpe Nko, Hon. Emah Ibok, Mr. Kingsley Asuquo, Lady Naomi Peter, Mr. Kingsley Akwa Udo and Samuel Samuel Akpan.

Speaking, the Local Government Council Chairman, High Chief William Mkpah, who said PDP is domicile in Ibeno, assured the team of the support of the people of the area.

Those to serve as Advisers are Mr. Samuel Ekpenyong, Hon. Enyina Hekins, Hon. Friday Ikpo, Elder Emmanuel Nnitor, Hon. Ukpong Dan Okon, Hon. Henry Ekpe-Nko, Chief Charles Ukoete, Mr. Monday Robert, Lady Ethel Ifum, Apostle Samuel Ekah, Hon. Prince Inyang Eyo Ita, Hon. Akpanika Bassey Akpanika, Hon. Obong Smith Udoeka.

The event was graced by the Senator representing Eket Senatorial District, Senator Akon Eyakenyin; the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey; Chief Whip, Rt. Hon.
