The member-elect for Ikono/INI Federal Constituency, Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, has expressed overwhelming gratitude to the people of INI and Ikono Local Government Areas for electing him to represent them in the National Assembly.
In a thank you message to the people of his Federal Constituency, Obong Ukpong-Udo said “With every sense of humility, I wish to express my gratitude first to God Almighty for the successful completion of the first phase of the 2019 Elections, and the ensuing victory he has granted us at the polls. I am truly overwhelmed by the trust and confidence reposed in me by my people of Ikono and Ini Federal Constituency, as expressed by your votes which have culminated in this victory and the consequent responsibility to represent you at the House of Representatives for the next four years.”
“I am immensely grateful to my family, friends, loyal supporters who so generously offered their time, resources and physical effort to this victory right from the preliminary stages, the consultations, the campaigns and even onto the election proper. I want to specially thank our great People’s Democratic Party for providing me guidance and support. Special thanks also goes to the irrepressible and hard-working “Mkpoikanaabasi 2019″ Campaign Committee, and the many organizations and individuals who endorsed me. I am humbled by the honour done me. I wish to remind us here that this victory is for all of us and so I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. To my opponents I say, THANK YOU too for your maturity and sportsmanship spirit. I extend a hand of fellowship to call for a new era in Ikono and Ini; a new era devoid of back-stabbing, betrayal and pettiness. Let us put the interest of Ikono-Ini people first (like we all promised during our campaigns) by openly and discreetly resolving to join hands to develop our land,” the message maintained.
He concluded by saying, “I acknowledge the weight of responsibility and expectations of me during the coming four years. This responsibility includes listening to constituents, translating their worries and concerns into workable proposals, and building consensus to implement them. I cannot entirely do these without the sincere involvement of the people I represent. As you have entrusted me with the responsibility of speaking on your behalf, I implore that you continue to provide me with the relevant ideas and feedback to effectively translate your yearnings to reality. I thank you in advance for this. I look forward to continuing to work for you to improve the lives of the people of Ikono-Ini Federal Constituency and Akwa Ibom State at large, to an enviable place where people of all ages can count on a future. Thank you, once again, for having faith in me. I will not let you down.”
