NSIT ATAI COUNCIL CHAIRMAN REFUTES VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE ON PAUL EKPO

Chairman of Nsit Atai local government area, Lady Emem Ibanga, has stated that the purported vote of no confidence reported to have been passed on the Akwa Ibom State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Paul Ekpo, by the people of Nsit Atai was a falsehood.

Nseabasi Udoeyo, Secretary of the council, disclosed this in a statement he signed on behalf of the chairman yesterday.

“Our attention has been drawn to a puerile report purporting that the people of Nsit Atai local government area had passed a vote of no confidence on the Akwa Ibom State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Obong Paul Ekpo, for disrespecting the zoning structure in Nsit Atai Local Government Area of the state and undermining the integrity of the people.

“In order to set the record straight, we want to state clearly that the alleged vote of no confidence said to have been passed on our very revered party chairman should be disregarded by right thinking members of the public, as it is worthless and a complete falsehood.

“Since we know well that unscrupulous persons and those we perceive as attention-seekers are on the prowl, particularly in this political season, we use this medium to express our confidence and commitment to the Obong Paul Ekpo’s led PDP in Akwa Ibom state because we believe that he understands the nitty gritty of party politics and the yearnings and aspirations of supporters”, he said.

Mr Udoeyo added that in their efforts to strengthen the PDP and position it for victory in Nsit Atai local government area ahead of the 2019 general elections, the council leadership would put reconciliation machineries in motion to address political issues rather than resort to actions that would alienate and put it at loggerheads with the leadership of the PDP and the people of the area.

He maintained that the Nsit Atai people are working in unison by the common goal of supporting Governor Udom Emmanuel’s re-election in 2019.

“We believe that our best interest as a people will be most protected through the sustenance of the tempo of the current good governance and the industrialization agenda of our governor’, Udoeyo said.
