LG POLLS: ITU PDP CHAIRMANSHIP FLAG-BEARER HARPS ON UNITY

The Chairmanship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Itu Local Government Area for the forth coming council elections in Akwa Ibom State, Barr. Etetim Onuk, has said his emergence as flag bearer of the party signals the return of peace to the area.

Barr. Onuk stated this today during a meeting with Chairmanship and Councillorship Aspirants from Itu, in the just concluded PDP Primaries in the State, held at Ewet Housing, in Uyo.

Speaking further, the Itu incoming Council Boss said when elected, his administration will restore peace and unity to Itu local government area, adding the era of political tussle is gone.

Onuk who solicited for cooperation from those who lost out in the Party primaries, maintained that nobody’s political ambition is worth the unity of Itu, saying one of his core mandates as chairman of the area will be to work with the stakeholders and people to ensure peace in Itu.

He also said he would not only run an open and all inclusive governance, but will attract more people oriented projects to the people.

He appealed them to avoid any acts that will further prompt problems, but work to restore the dignity of the area.

Also speaking, Senator Anietie Okon said stakeholders of the area will support Barr. Onuk to fulfil his campaign promises to the people, adding they will also offer useful advice that will help succeed in his administration.

He said “After the victory in the December 4, your experience, wisdom and capacity will contribute in making Itu a better place.”

“We have issues of security in our local Government prominence, we must give the local government to a hand that can handle the situation properly.”

Admonishing other contenders at the just concluded PDP Primaries, Sen.Okon pledged to refund 50 % of the cost of their nomination forms, and said he will continually work for the progress of Itu local government area.

While noting that Onuk’s administration would bring more development to Itu, he said Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration is working assiduously to promote grassroot development, and expressed hope that the vision would be accomplished with Onuk.

Others who spoke included the Itu/Ibiono Ibom representative in the House of Representatives, Dr Henry Archibong who also harped on the need for Unity in the area.
