IKOT EKPENE YOUTH MOURNS AS AUGUSTUS ASSIAK DIES AT 85

The demise of the Paramount Ruler of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, HRM Okuku Augustus Jonah Ekpenyong Assiak, has thrown Youths of the area into shock and mourning.

Speaking to newsmen, the Ikot Ekpene Transition Committee’s Supervisor for Youth and Sports, Prince Samuel Ukut, said, “youths of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area are greatly stunned with the news of the death of an Iroko, Okuku Augustus Assiak, a man that was more than a mentor and a light-bearer to us, an elder statesman per excellence and a truly great leader and monarch.”

He described the Late Monarch as an intelligent individual with great personality and an awesome patriarch anyone would have ever hoped for, adding that “He was just such a great man, always upbeat about life generally, had a good sense of humor and was just so nice and you couldn’t ask for a nicer patriarch.”

According to the Youth and Sports Supervisor, “Youth leaders of recognized youth groups have all resolved to participate fully in the burial activities. Cleaning and sanitation of the Palace shall be done immediately after a condolence visit. on Thursday ”.

While expressing grief, Prince Ukut, who also said there will be a novelty football match between Ikot Ekpene All Stars International with Ikono All Stars International at Ritman College, Ikot Ekpene on Thursday 29th, urged the people of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area to find solace in the fact that the late monarch left behind inspiring legacies in the sands of time which if emulated would better their lot.

He, however, said late Okuku Assiak will be sorely missed, especially his invaluable advises, subtleness, love and care towards his people, maintaining that

“On behalf of my family and the entire youths of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Monarch’s immediate family and the people of Ikot Ekpene over this painful and irreparable loss,” Prince Ukut said.
