IKONO/INI REPS SEAT: IBORO EKANEM CANVASSES VOTE FOR UKPONG-UDO, PDP

The member representing Ikono/INI Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Engr. Iboro Ekanem, has canvassed for votes for Governor Udom Emmanuel; his would-be successor, Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo; candidate for Ikono State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Mr. Asuquo Nana, and all other candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general elections.

Speaking at Comprehensive Secondary School, Ukpom (Ikono Ward-5); Ekpene Ediene (Ikono Ward-10) and Holy Child Catholic School, Nung Udoe Itak (Ikono Ward-11) on Saturday during a Ward Tour by Obong Ukpong-Udo and Mr. Nana, the incumbent House Representatives member for Ikono/INI Federal Constituency, Engr. Ekanem, said the area has never voted any other party outside PDP and maintained that he will ensure his successor succeed and surpasses his achievements.

“Nomination has come and gone. Let’s put everything behind us and join hands and move our party forward for the development of Ikono Local Government. The envisaged success of PDP will not become a reality if we do not come out to vote and defend our votes. I will assist my brother, Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo to surpass my achievements and to succeed,” he stressed.

Also speaking, the State PDP Legal Adviser, Barrister Goddy Umoh, appealed to the people of Ikono Local Government to adhere to the wishes of Nigerians by voting PDP, stressing that “the jihadist plot by the Muhammadu Buhari-led government must not be allowed to continue.”

While urging the people of the area to vote out the insensitive government at the centre, Barrister Umoh said candidates of the PDP were the best of their kind anywhere in the country.

In his remarks, Chairman of Ikono Local Government Council, Mr. Itoro Columba, who briefed the people on the gains of the PDP government, said “In eight years of the previous administration, Ikono had no single kilometer of road. But within three years of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s leadership, Ikono can boast 4.6km of road, a rehabilitated and reequipped General Hospital and an upgraded College of Arts and Science. Governor Udom Emmanuel will fix the Uyo Afaha Nkan – Obio Ediene – Ikot Nseyen – Ukpom Road, which has been in a state of despair for years.”

He further called on the people to endeavour to vote PDP for progress, development, peace and prosperity of Akwa Ibom State.

Those in the campaign team included Ikono PDP Chapter Chairman, Barrister Moses Akpan; Sir Victor Etefia; Director General of Mkpoikana-Abasi Campaign Organization, Barrister Edet Inyangidim; Director General of AkwaOdudu Abasi Campaign Organization, Hon. Okon Akpanusung; David Okoko; Vice Chairmen of Ikono and INI Local Government Councils, Hon. Marcus Essien and Hon. Idorenyin Etokobong; Hon. Kelly Okon; Christiana Nyah; Nathaniel Ndon; Edet Umotong; Akaninyene Owotekpe; all Councillors and Executives of Wards.

Highpoint of the event was the reception of defectors from the All Progressive Congress (APC) and presentation of two motorcycles to supporters in Ward-5 and Ward-10.
