IBOM DEEP SEAPORT WILL UNLOCK INHERENT POTENTIAL OF A’IBOM – OKON  

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport, Mr. Akan Okon, has said “the development of Ibom Deep Seaport will unlock the inherent potential of the state.”

 

Mr. Okon stated this on Thursday in Uyo during the 2020 End of the Year Media Chat on the opening of two major economic gateways in Akwa Ibom.

 

According to the Commissioner, “the recent approval of a deep seaport in Akwa Ibom State by the Federal Government is a major milestone for us. I want to urge our people to take advantage of the emerging opportunities. The Deep Seaport comes with an industrial city. I also want to urge our youth to upgrade themselves and gain more skill in the maritime sector.”

 

He informed that “the first phase of the Deep Seaport project will be completed within the lifespan of the Udom Emmanuel administration. We have concluded arrangement for the commencement construction work.”

 

Mr. Okon, in his New Year message to the people of Akwa Ibom, commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for the strides so far achieved and appealed to the people to be steadfast in their support to the present administration.
