IBENO PDP: ETTEH COMMENDS NEW OFFICERS, CALLS FOR UNITY

By Peter Wilfred Efet

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Special Duties, Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, has commended the high level of sportsmanship and maturity displayed by the outgoing and newly elected officers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibeno Local Government Area.

Rt. Hon. Etteh, who gave the commendation during the inauguration ceremony of the new executives on Thursday in Upenekang, described the outgoing officers as pathfinders and torchbearers whose efforts and contributions to the party structure will continue to inspire their successors for the progress of the area and Akwa Ibom.

While urging the newly elected officers to continually strive for fairness, equity, justice and political inclusion as enshrined in the party’s Guideline, the Special Duties Commissioner lauded their predecessors, saying “your unshaken loyalty, goodwill, strength and willpower played out during the last general elections. You gave PDP a landslide victory. For this, and many other feats, I say thank you to all of you. I want to also charge the new officers to toe this path.”

“As contained in a press release by the State Party Authority that the tenure will start effectively from April 30th, 2020 and elapse by April 30th, 2024. It should be noted that it is not our making that today’s event, an epoch ceremony, is celebrated in a very low key. We have to do that in line with the lockdown directive of government to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. For this administration, staying safe and staying alive is worth more than celebrating today’s event,” he explained.

He further charged the new officers to be outstanding in their service to the community and to the party, saying “the people of Ibeno believe in your capacity to deliver and have chosen you to be their representatives in the party, do not let them down.”
