GOV UDOM’S AIDE AWARDS SCHOLARSHIP TO OBOT AKARA STUDENTS

As part of his empowerment scheme and in support of the free and compulsory education programmes of the Akwa Ibom State Government, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Technical Matters and Due Process, Elder Ufot Ebong, has awarded the 2017/2018 school year scholarship under his Academic Foundation programme to indigenes of Obot Akara Local Government Area.

The Governor’s Aide, while presenting the award, valued at N100,000 each, to the students in Obot Akara, congratulated the beneficiaries for sailing through UME and gaining admission urging them to make their family proud and take their studies serious.

He revealed that the scholarship scheme was borne out of long passion and desire to touch lives in line with the biblical teaching that givers never lack, adding that over 50 students from Obot Akara and beyond were able to access the scholarship programme

In his words, “I am grateful to God for giving me the grace to run this programme for over 5years now. For few of you who have been added in this year’s session, Congratulations! You are in school today for your future and that of your family. When you graduate, you will be contributing to the development of our state and country. Make sure you don’t waste this opportunity, it may not come your way again. Desist from cultism and other negative vices and focus on your studies. I will try my best to, pay your fees until the completion of your academic programmes.”

Speaking further, Elder Ebong encouraged lucky beneficiaries to return to campus with a renewed vigour to break new grounds and achieve excellence in their academic pursuit, adding that the ultimate value and renewal of the scholarship is predicated on excellence.

Responding, one of the beneficiaries, Ifreke Udoh thanked the Governor’s Senior Aide for his kind gesture and magnanimity and promised to make judicious use of the funds

The beneficiaries cut across the various wards in Obot Akara would on annual basis receive N100,000 each so long as they maintain good academic standing in various higher institutions.
