FG REITERATES COMMITMENT TO QUALITY EDUCATION

 

Federal Government has re-iterated its determination towards the provision of quality education for national development.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo stated this at the thirtieth convocation ceremony of the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna.

Vice President Osinbajo who was represented by the Minister of Defence retired Major General Bashir Magashi explained that the federal Government has allocated over Six Hundred Billion Naira for Universities to fulfill their mandate of research, teaching and community service.

He maintained that the federal government’s school feeding programme had enhanced enrollment and eased burden of parents stressing that government would do everything possible towards ensuring that each Nigerian child has access to quality education.

The Vice President noted that with the commencement of degree and post graduate programmes, the Academy has planted seeds of intellectualism, innovative education as well as making impact in the area of management production for the country.

He observed that over the years, the Nigerian Defence Academy has built a reputation of discipline, academic integrity, as well as discharging military trainings in specialize areas which has blossomed to a citadel of learning.

Vice President Osinbajo urged the graduands to be good ambassadors and avoid acts that would tarnish their integrity.

At the event, Bachelors and Post graduate degrees were awarded, while honourary doctorate degrees were awarded to some distinguished Nigerians among whom are retired Air Marshal Al Ameen Daggash and retired Lt General Joseph Owonibi.

Among the prominent personalities that graced the occasion included the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army staff, Chief of Air Staff, Chief of Naval Staff among others.
