ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT: A’IBOM SPEAKER CHARGES YOUTH TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF RHAB-YESS  

Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has charged young entrepreneurs in the state and beneficiaries of March and April editions of the Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey Youth Entrepreneurship Support Scheme (RHAB-YESS) to take advantage of the programme and key into the industrialization thrust of the Udom Emmanuel’s administration.

 

The Speaker gave the charge on Wednesday at the Conference Room of the State House of Assembly while giving out cheques worth N1million to six beneficiaries of the RHAB-YESS programme.

 

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Charles Iwatt, the Speaker commended the beneficiaries for their doggedness, courage and determination to emerge winners in the online contest.

He said “the RHAB-YESS programme, aimed at discovering, empowering and mentoring young entrepreneurs in the state to greatness, complements Governor Udom Emmanuel’s Enterprise Development Drive in the state.”

 

“It is imperative to notes that most successful individuals worldwide are those who are sole proprietors of businesses and they have the higher means of survival. So, endeavour to put in your best to grow your business and also invest this money properly,” he said.

 

In his remarks, the Special Assistant to the Speaker on Media and Communications, Mr. Darlington Udobong, said the catchment of the programme covers the entire state and will run for a long time.

Mr. Udobong further thanked beneficiaries of the scheme, saying “the prosperity of Akwa lbom State lies in their hands. Strive to make Akwa Ibom the Singapore of Nigeria by maximizing the opportunity given to you by the Speaker.”

 

One of the Managers of the Scheme, Mr. Godswill Bassey, who explained the module of the Scheme, said “To enter for the contest simply go to the programme web site www.rhab-yess.com and fill out the form that is basically to introduce yourself and your startup business and then upload a short video about your business to the website. The best videos will be selected and posted on our Facebook page for voting. Videos with the highest comments will be shortlisted and the best three will become winners. There is actually no loser because if you don’t emerge a winner the first time, you can keep trying with a different video.”

 

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Blessing Akpan, who deals on Skin Care production, expressed appreciation to the Speaker for the opportunity given young entrepreneurs in Akwa Ibom to boost their businesses.

 

She assured that they will utilize the money to yield profits in their different enterprises.

The beneficiaries included Blessing Akpan (N250,000), Utibe Effiong (N150,000), Utibe Akwa (N100,000), Mmenim Wilson (N250,000), Aniedi Asuquo (N150,000) and Dorcas Ekumgbe (N100,000).
