Following the directive by the Akwa Ibom state Government to gradually relax lockdown within the state, the executive Chairman of Uyo Capital City Development (UCCDA), Prince Enobong Uwah has called on staff of the Agency to continue working hard, maintain proper hygiene and observe social distancing at work place.
He made the plea while interacting with newsmen earlier today. He used the opportunity to commend Governor Udom Emmanuel in his proactive efforts to curtail the spread of Covid-19 in the state, describing the Governor as a round peg in a round hole.
Enobong Uwah, urged key officers of UCCDA to exude their usual ethical standards in their day to day activities to improve productivity.
On reviving the nation’s economy after the lockdown, Prince Enobong Uwah suggested that, Nigeria should invest more in Agriculture and develop the other mineral resources apart from oil.
His words: “All hands must be on deck to get the nation’s economy back on track. If we must bounce back, I would suggest we improve our other mineral and natural resources. Nigeria is blessed with over 30 mineral and non-mineral resources. Most of these non-mineral resources are untapped.
Let me put it straight, depending on Oil is absurd in this 21st Century. We must change our label from a ‘Mono-product economy’ by looking into other areas. I think, diversification of the economy would go a long way in reducing poverty rate in the country”
The UCCDA Boss who lauded the governor for embarking on the construction of a permanent world class isolation centre at Ituk Mbang general hospital as well as inaugurating the Prof. Akpan Hogan Ekpo led Akwa Ibom State Post COVID-19 Economic Recovery Committee also called on Akwa Ibom people to desist from blackmail and support the Government of the day to succeed in implementing her completion agenda, maintaining that, Governor Emmanuel means well for the State.
