ENOBONG HARRY’S INFANTILE AMBITION: AN URGENT CALL TO ORDER

By Etim Efretui
As politicians in Akwa Ibom continue to condemn the ‘ego-bloated House of Assembly ambition’ of Enobong Harry, State Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on the internet, a chieftain and founding member of the party in Esit Eket, who is also a stronger and strong supporter of Governor Udom Emmanuel, has said there was an urgent need for the Governor and the State Chairman of the party to save democracy and call him to order.
The PDP chieftain said though the perceived infantile ambition of Mr. Harry was a “mere wishful thinking,” it could cause disaffection and acrimony within the “already united party faithful,” if not checked now.
“It is an outright quest to fan the amber of disunity, disaffection and acrimony in the local government area. For a State Officer of the party, who happen to come from the same area that produced the Local Government Council Chairman, to even nurse an unguided ambition for the House of Assembly seat shows the level of greed that is imbedded in him. It is sheer infantile ambition and an inherent intention to destroy the party,” he explained.
He said Governor Udom Emmanuel-led government has not only saved PDP in the state but also taken a bold step to move the party into the path of sustainable progress through inclusiveness, zoning, fairness, equity and due process in the polity.

It is true Governor Udom Emmanuel has a non negotiable mandate to lead the people of Esit Eket vis-à-vis Akwa Ibom till 2023, but my worries have on the unnecessary distraction the state officer of the party is trying to cause in the area. The seat of Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency in the State House of Assembly is for a serious minded person and not for hooligans. It must be respected,” he maintained.

Also speaking, another PDP stalwart from the area, pained by the alleged ambition of Mr. Harry, queried, “What yardstick are we going to use to change a performing member, one that is rated high beyond his constituency? It is so sad for a child to decide to grow a decayed tooth during his teething process.”
He went further to say, “Come to think of it, Enobong Harry says he is working for the Governor. How do you claimed to be in support of the Governor’s second term bid when you are creating a total distraction? When you know that the Chairman of your Local Government is from your area; the Chairman of the State Secondary Education Board is from your Ward; the Political Leader of your Local Government is from your Ward; three of the Supervisors to be appointed are from your Ward; the Chapter Vice Chairman of the party is from your Ward; Special Assistant to the Governor is from your Ward. Is it your Ward alone that will deliver Governor Udom Emmanuel in Esit Eket in 2019? You are the State Officer of the party. Does your action show that you wish Governor Udom Emmanuel and PDP well in Esit Eket?”

“The serving House of Assembly member is from another zone. The only thing they have in that zone is the Council Secretary, a Special Assistant to the Governor and the House of Assembly member and these positions are spread across the four Wards that make up the zone. Governor Udom Emmanuel and Obong Paul Ekpo must caution the State Officer of the party sternly. He is causing a terrible distraction in Esit Eket, an already molded, united Local Government Area that is geared toward winning the 2019 elections for the party,” he emphasized.
