CURBING ILLEGAL MIGRANTS: ITU LG TO PARTNER NIGERIAN IMMIGRATION

Itu Local Government Chairman, Hon. Barr. Etetim Onuk has reiterated his commitment to partner with security agencies to curb illegal immigrants and ensure a safer community. He gave the assurance on Wednesday, while addressing a team of Immigration officer’s, led by the Akwa Ibom State Controller of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Livingstone Amado who was on a working tour of the Loca Government’s Immigration Command.

“As an administration, we will continue to collaborate with security agencies operating within our Local Government and we shall not hesitate to give the necessary support whenever the need arise. The duties of law enforcement agents, including Nigerian Immigration Service is sacrosanct and must be given it’s due. I assure you that this synergy shall be sustained for the good of our communities.” He said.

In his remarks, the Controller, Akwa Ibom State Command of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Livingstone Amadi, thanked the Council Chairman for the assistance given to Immigration officers, serving in Itu Division, he particularly appauded him for the office space allocated to his men and called for an intensified and sustained synergy that would ultimately enhanced their performance.

The Akwa Ibom State Immigration controller Who said his visit to Itu Local Government Area, formed part of his familiarization tour of Immigration divisions, accross the state, solicited for continued support from the Local Government and called for a proactive interface to complement their efforts in tackling the menace of irregular entry by foreigners, who may want to take advantage of the various land borders in neighbouring Cross River State.

Other who attended the event include, the Head Of Service, Itu Local Government Area, Mr. Cletus Eboh, Assistant Controller of Immigration, Michael Yepwa and the Divisional Immigration Officer for Itu Local Government Area, Iniobong Knight among others.
