CHIEF EFET LAUDS UDOM, TAKES FAMILY TO GOD IN SPECIAL THANKSGIVING

The 2018 Fathers’ Day will remain memorable for the family of Chief Ufikairo Efet, a Commissioner in the Akwa Ibom State Law Reform Commission, as his wife, children, friends and associates joined him in a special thanksgiving to God on Sunday, June 17, at the St Silas Anglican Church, Okoroete, Eastern Obolo Local Government Area.

Chief Efet, who lauded Governor Udom Emmanuel, said the event offered him and his family a better ground to specially thank the Governor for the appointment given him and to also flaunt the Governor’s sterling qualities as a visionary leader that is determined to develop the area and ameliorate the sufferings of the Obolo people.

In his testimony, Chief Efet, who was also made Father of the Day, said “I want to thank God specifically for good health and Governor Udom Emmanuel for appointing me as a Commissioner in the Law Reform Commission. Since 2002 when I left office as Executive Chairman of Eastern Obolo Local Government Council, no government remembered me. God used good friends to assist me to put my children through school. To the glory of God, in 2017, 15 years after, Governor Udom Emmanuel put smiles on my face, that of my family and my teeming supporters. I want the Church to pray to God to continually enrich the Governor in good health, wisdom, strength and grace. Finally, I want to say that it is our prayer that the people of Obolo be continually remembered in the governance of the state.”

The Law Reform Commissioner described the State Governor as “a God-fearing and adequate personality whose wealth of experience, intellectual ability, humility, benevolence and penchant for peace, progress and industrialization of Akwa Ibom stand him out as an epitome of success,” maintaining that his mark in the socio-economic and political landscape of Akwa Ibom has been unparalleled.

As someone that rose from the position of a Clerical Officer to a Chief Accountant in the civil service and as one that has come a long way on the positive side of history, Chief Efet reassured the people of the area of the Governor’s commitment to good governance and infrastructural development of Akwa Ibom, adding that the administration has also ushered in a new vista for rapid socio-economic and political development of the state.

In his homily, the Pastor, Barrister Sam Ojoko, charged the congregation, specifically the fathers, to strive to show humility in all they do and live up to the responsibility of being the head of the family.

Speaking from the Book of Luke Chapter 18, Verses 1 – 9, on the theme, “Men Ought Always To Pray, Not To Faint,” Barrister Ojoko admonished the fathers to also engender peace in their family and those around them.

“As fathers, I charge you all to make God first, live an exemplary life in everything that you pursue in life. I implore you to engender peace in your family and those around you,” he said.

Highpoint of the event included a special prayer session for Governor Udom Emmanuel, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria and the Efet’s family; luncheon of the church project, special presentation by the children and thanksgiving by the fathers.

Chief Efet, alongside his friends, gave cash and over 60 bags of cement as support to the church. He also volunteered to renovate the children’s church with complete windows and doors.

In attendance were the immediate past representative of the area in the State House of Assembly, Chief Aboh Uduyok; Secretary of Eastern Obolo Local Government Council, Hon. Daniel Ekoyork; Chief Albert Ukoete; former members of the Eastern Obolo legislative Council, serving and former Chapter Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area, among others.
