A foremost Chairmanship aspirant in Ukanafun Local Government Area, Engr. Twoweeks Umoh, has said it is a good thing to seek the face of God and appreciate his mercies over all lives every time.
Engr. Umoh, who spoke with reporters in Uyo, said the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, must be commended for realizing this by declaring a fasting and prayer assembly for September 1, 2017, as the first programme to make the state’s 30th Anniversary celebration.
He said in the 30 years of existence of the state, God has always been the foundation and pillar of progress and development of the state.
“I congratulate our Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel and our people on the coming 30thAnniversary. It is a good thing that the Governor has started the celebration with a prayer assembly. God has always been our foundation. To even get the state created was the handwork of God using the then Head of State, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida. When things went tough and the onshore/offshore war was weighing against us, it was only God who redeemed us after Obong Victor Attah declared a solemn assembly. Under Senator Godswill Akpabio, prayer became a state policy and several solemn assemblies helped to stabilize the polity and ginger development and now, under our deacon Governor Udom, himself a professed man of God, it has only been God,” Engr. Umoh said.
Engr. Umoh, a former Chairman of the Ukanafun Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), further said Akwa Ibom has become the envy of Nigeria in just 30 years of existence, attributing it to the same hand of God.
“It is God that has made Akwa Ibom State to be the envy of Nigeria. Most Nigerians and even foreign investors say it is the safest, peaceful, most organized state in Nigeria. It is God. It is also God that made us the number one revenue earner from oil resources. When you remember that we almost had nothing from oil when the onshore/offshore oil dichotomy came in, you will see the hand of God. Everybody in Nigeria wants to come here to live, to work and to do business. It is only God.”
The Federal University of Technology, Owerri trained engineer who is a former National Public Relations Officer of the National Association of Akwa Ibom State Students (NAAKISS) Worldwide, called on Akwa Ibom people to pray for the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel and also to cooperate with it, to record achievements that will lift the state higher in the coming years
“We should keep praying for our Governor. He has done well in driving our economy towards industrialization and entrepreneurial development. In the coming years, with our prayers and cooperation, he will certainly succeed in taking our state higher than he met it,” Umoh concluded,
“Please we should pray for our Governor. Leadership comes from God. He needs our prayers for his to remain focused and continue to succeed in all his plans to lift the state higher,” Engr. Umoh concluded.
