CAPTAINS IN OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY TO STORM UYO AS GOVERNOR PERFORMS INTRODUCTION OF AKWA IBOM OIL AND GAS TRAINING AND RESEARCH CENTRE

Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital will be agog this Tuesday as Captains and Stakeholders in the Oil and Gas sector around the globe will converge on the State to witness the Introduction of Akwa Ibom Oil and Gas Training and Research Centre.

The introduction ceremony of the centre which is established by the State Government in collaboration with Halliburton Operations Nigeria Limited will be performed by the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel at the E-library, IBB Way, Uyo by 12noon and will have the Executive Secretary of Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Simbi Wabote as Co-host and the Chief Operating Officer, Upstream, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mr. Bello Rabiu as the Guest of Honour.

To this end, the State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Prof. Nse Essien has cordially invited the Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo, the Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Barr. Onofiok Luke and House Members and the State Chief Judge, Justice Godwin Abraham to the occasion.

According to a release from the Commissioner’s office, others invited are the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, the Head of the Civil Service, Mrs. Ekereobong Akpan, members of the State Executive Council, Chairmen of Boards and Commissions, Permanent Secretaries, Chairmen of Local Government Areas, Directors in the Ministry of Science and Technology and the entire staff of the Ministry.

The centre which is the first Oil and Gas Training Centre in Nigeria that is fully-equipped with oil field tools will offer basic, standard and advance courses in field development, drilling, completions, well intervention and digital technology and is open to both local and international trainees.

The introduction of this centre to major stakeholders in the oil and gas industry is a follow up to its formal inauguration in November last year.
