BUHARI MAKES NEW APPOINTMENT

President Muhammau Buhari has approved the reconstitution of the board of Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

Ademola Seriki is now the board Chairman with effect from January 7.

Seriki, a Lagos indigene, served as Minister of State for Interior under the Jonathan administration.

The development was contained in a statement Thursday night by Ibrahim Haruna, Deputy Director, Press in the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.

It noted that the Minister, Adeniyi Adebayo, made the announcement while presenting appointment letter to new CAC Registrar-General, Garba Abubakar.

According to the statement, the minister said that the reconstitution of the board had put to rest the lingering leadership tussle facing the CAC.

He urged all directors and staff of the commission to give the new Registrar-General maximum support and cooperation to move the commission forward.

Also, the Minister of State, Mariam Katagum, while congratulating the new Registrar-General, also appreciated the former Ag. Registrar-General, Hajiya Saratu Shafi’i, while on acting capacity.

Gwarzo, while presenting the letter of appreciation to the former Ag. Registrar General, Hajiya Hasaratu Shafi’i, for the role she played in her acting capacity, also commended the staff of the commission for their cooperation.

Responding, Abubakar pledged his unflinching support and loyalty to the Buhari government.

He pledged to be fair to all and transform the commission to a world class institution.

“We promise to fulfill the confidence reposed on us by the government,’’ the new R-G said.

Garba, who hails from Bauchi State, is a lawyer by profession, attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and was called to bar in 1989.

He joined the commission 15 years ago and rose to the rank of Director of Compliance.
