ANCOPSS DECRIES “DUAL CAREER” STUDENTSHIP IN NIGERIA’S EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM

The All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) has decried the involvement of Nigerian youths in politics at the expense of formal education.

In communiqué issued on Thursday at the end of its five day National Executive Meeting in Gusau ANCOPSS said there is advent of “Dual Career” studentship in Nigeria’s educational system and something urgent must be done to curtail it.

The ANCOPSS lamented the way youths in the country involve themselves in party politics early at the expense of formal education with its attendant consequence on their academic performance.

The principals of Secondary Schools in the country further called for emphasis on effective formal education by stakeholders to prepare youths for robust politicking in later life.

All effort should be made to discourage “Dual Career” studentship in our educational system for quality education and check on the wave of underperformance and social vices among youths,” the communiqué said.

The school principals then called on political leadership at all levels in the country to focus more on the wellbeing of the people for a better society. (Source: DAILYTRUST)
