The Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has lauded the ingenuity of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s Special Assistant on Social Re-Orientation, Mr. Ekpeno Gold.

Rt. Hon. Bassey, who made this known on Monday while unveiling the Office Complex of Akwa Ibom Social Re-Orientation Initiative, Mkpo Amaa Change, at Enwe Street, Uyo, said the initiative will instill good morals in youths of the state.

He said the “initiative is in line with the Dakkada Philosophy of Governor Udom Emmanuel. This initiative is a step in the right direction, because Social re-orientation is the most important tool for any economic renaissance. It has to do with change and our perception about life in general.”

“Success has a lot to do with re-orientation. We live in an era where people talk more and do less; where spend more time in sending out negative messages that disunite instead of messages that will build. I am optimistic that this initiative will aid our people to start sending out encouraging messages for the progress and development of Akwa Ibom State; messages that will encourage our young to really rise to their faith of greatness,” he added.

The Speaker further charged youths of the state to always strive for the best in their endeavours, stressing that his “life will also be a testimony to what an average young man should be or aspire to be.”

While using the forum to appeal to youths of the state to rise up against rape and social vices, Rt. Hon. Bassey urged Mr. Gold to put “modalities on motion to see that your office engages on intent campaign against the vile and its adverse effect to the society. The campaign should reach all nooks and crannies of the state. The campaign must also encourage our young ones to return to classrooms as soon as school resumes.”
