AGAIN, AKWA IBOM NLC REJECTS UDOM’S ‘GREEK GIFT’

Akwa Ibom State Council of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has disclaimed the rumour making the round on the social media that the body accepted a cow, Christmas gift, from the State Government.

In a press statement signed by its Vice Chairperson and acting Secretary, Comrade Iboro Ibara, the body said “The workers of Akwa Ibom State and the entire good citizens of the State are hereby brought to the notice that the NLC, Akwa Ibom State Council stands by the earlier decision of the State Executive Council (SEC) of NLC on 5/01/2017 that the NLC should reject Government’s Greek Gift to the NLC since the same government was unwilling to address the myriad problems of the workers.”

“Congress is dismayed that the State Government has chosen to blackmail the Nigerian Labour Congress over this issue. Government has recruited and used one Nsima Etukudoh for this unholy act. It must be noted that the said Nsima Etukudoh, who parades himself as a “Deputy Chairman” of the NLC is a cheap imposter as no such office exist in congress. The affairs of the NLC, Akwa Ibom State Council is and has always been managed by the State Administrative Council under the leadership of  Obong (Comrade) Etim Ukpong, the State Chairperson, who alone has the authority to execute the mandate of congress in the state.”

“The NLC, Akwa Ibom State Council therefore has no business or businesses whatsoever, with the purported Christmas Bazaar as reported in the said publication and debunks the claims of accepting any Christmas gifts from the State government as falsehood. The NLC, AKS council hereby states categorically that the Government of Akwa Ibom State has not given any cow or rice to the NLC.”
