What seems to be power outage in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for the past one week has been addressed with the purchase of 500KVA Cummins Power Generator to supply power to facilities within the Assembly premises.

The Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey was on hand to receive and inspect the installation of the new generating plant earlier today.

He assured Akwa Ibom people of the State Legislators’ commitment to deliver optimum people-oriented legislation as the 7th Assembly resumes her plenary on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 after one week break due to the technical challenge experienced last week which made the environment not conducive to have convened House sessions.

It is worthy to note that the technicality of the processes for House session to hold makes it important for availability of power supply to aid recording and production of legislative documents.

The head of technical unit of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mr. Lawrence Sam thanked the Speaker and the House Management team for the prompt attention given to the issue as the old FG Wilson 500KVA Generating Plant which serviced the State Assembly for the past 8years broke down and could not supply light to the facilities within State Assembly premises.

According to the head of technical team, the installation of the new generating set will be completed today and test run, readying it for use to supply power for House sessions and other legislative duties from tomorrow, March 17, 2020.
