AKHA TO DISCLOSE NAMES OF NEW COMMISSIONERS TUESDAY

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly (AKHA) will likely disclose the names of Commissioners and Special Advisers to the State Executive Council on Tuesday during its plenary, Ibom Telegraph can authoritatively report.

Giving the hint today (Thursday), an impeccable source said that the disclosure was put on hold because of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s inadvertent absence in the state.

Ibom Telegraph learnt that there were high level pressures on the Governor to drop some of the names on the list particularly those that were in the cabinet of former Governor Godswill Akpabio.

The source said Governor Emmanuel had finally reached an agreement with stakeholders who were behind the high level pressures and as such the ratified list of nominees for the State Executive Council may now sail through.

According to our source, this confirm the reason the House of Assembly did not sit today, as it is alleged that the Speaker, Barrister Onofiok Luke, and some members went to the Airport to receive the Governor on his return.

It could be recalled that the Governor had said he would be meticulous and transparent in the reconstitution of his new EXCO, saying “the administration under my watch is committed to ensure that my campaign promises are fulfilled and the programmes of the administration vigorously pursued base on need assessment. The next State Executive Council would comprise persons that would sustain the drive for the industrialization of the state.”
