AKHA: BASSEY CONSTITUTES TWO AD-HOC COMMITTEES FOR SMOOTH TAKE-OFF

    Speaker of the 7th Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mr. Aniekan Bassey, on Tuesday, constituted two ad-hoc Committees with the responsibility of ensuring smooth take-off of proceedings in the Assembly, pending the selection of substantive Committees.

    The Committees are the Selection Committee headed by the Speaker, and ad-hoc Committee on Welfare, headed by the Chief Whip, Mr. Emmanuel Ekpenyong.

    The Selection Committee, saddled with the responsibility of selecting members and chairmen of Standing Committees of the House, is made up of the Deputy Speaker, Princess Felicia Bassey (Okobo); House Leader, Sir Udo Kierian Akpan (Oruk Anam); Chief Whip, Mr. Emmanuel Ekpenyong (INI); Deputy House Leader, Barr. Aniefiok Dennis (Etinan); Mr. Uduak Ududoh (Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo); Mr. Mark Esset (Nsit Atai), and Mr. Asuquo Nana Udo (Ikono).

    Welfare Committee, expected to handle all welfare arrangement of members, has the Deputy Chief Whip, Otuekong Nse Essien (ONNA); Elder Aniekan Uko (Ibesikpo Asutan); Dr Usoro Akpanusoh (Esit Eket/Ibeno); Prince Idongesit Ntekpere (Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara); Mr. Mfon Idung (Etim Ekpo/Ika); Obong Godwin Ekpo (Ibiono Ibom); Dr Charity Ido (Ukanafun); Barrister Otobong Bob (Nsit Ubium), and Mr. Asuquo Frank (Mbo).

    The Speaker, who said though the tasks before the Seventh Assembly is enormous, expressed optimism that members of each Committee will live up to their responsibility for the progress of the state.

    He further charged members of the Committees to commence work immediately.

    The House plenary, attended by all 25 members, has been adjourned to Tuesday, the 25th day of June, 2019.
