A’Ibom PDP Insists On New Exco

Stakeholders in the Akwa Ibom State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) are reported to have called for the overhaul of the present state executive of the party in the forth coming party election.
According to reports reaching Ibom Telegraph, many PDP bigwigs in the state were said to have also advised Governor Udom Emmanuel to install his own executive from the state to the ward levels.
Close aides, to the governor who confided with the reporter said they have told him to take full control of the structure of the party and assert his authority as the leader of the party in the state ahead of the 2019 election.
Our reporter learnt that the present PDP exco from the state to the ward levels were installed by the Akpabio administration and there are fears that they would still be loyal to him if they are re-elected for any position.
Already, our reporter learnt that high level consultations and lobbying have been going on among interest groups for possible alignment on the choice of a new state chairman of the party and other executive members. The PDP is said to have zoned the state chairmanship position to Uyo Senatorial District with Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency most favoured to produced a successor to the out-going State Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo who hails from Etinan Federal Constituency.
