A’IBOM GOV CALLS FOR RE-UNIFICATION OF QUA IBOE CHURCH NIGERIA
Akwa Ibom State Governor Mr. Udom Emmanuel has sued for the re-unification of Qua Iboe Church under one Conference to justify the yearnings and sacrifice of the founding Missionary of the Church, Reverend Samuel Bill in 1887.
The State Governor made the plea during the funeral service of the General Superintendent and Chairman of Conference of Qua Iboe Church Nigeria, held at Ikot Akpan Ukam, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of the State.
Governor Emmanuel, himself a Deacon of the Church, appealed to the Church leadership to use the occasion of the demise of the Conference Chairman Rev. Sunday Dickson, to bring the existing factions into one body irrespective of its nomenclature.
He congratulated the new General Superintendent, Rev. Victor Isaac Philip, on his emergence as the new Conference Chairman and urged the new General overseer to persuade the factions to close ranks and accept as a mark of humility, through Christ, to return to the fold.
Governor Emmanuel announced plans to establish Electricity Sub-Station to boost electricity supply in the area and enhance industrialization adding that the station would supply electricity to additional five Local Government Areas and assured the people that more roads would be constructed as soon as the economy improves.
He thanked the Church for their prayers and support to the Divine mandate which he noted facilitated his emergence as the State Governor and said of the deceased as an epitome of humility and a fire brand Evangelist who has touched many souls for the kingdom of God.
He consoled the Church, family and Mkpat Enin Community for the loss of a distinguished Cleric and urged them to take consolation in the Christ – like virtues bequeathed them by the deceased.
Preaching on the theme “What is life” Rev. Victor Philip enjoined sympathizers to reflect on the mystery of life saying life is a vapour which exists for a moment and evaporates into a gaseous state within a twinkle of an eye.
The Cleric noted that people have questioned God on the mystery of death and explained that Man’s life on Earth is short advising that people should use the brief moment to serve God and humanity by engaging in things that glorifies our creator.
Late Rev. Essien who died at the age of 68 is survived by a wife, seven children and a host of relations.
