A’IBOM ASSEMBLY HOLDS VALEDICTORY SESSION, VOWS TO INTERVENE IN ABANDONED BRIDGE LINKING IBESIKPO ASUTAN AND NSIT IBOM COMMUNITIES

The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly is to intervene in the abandoned bridge linking Ibesikpo Asutan and Nsit Ibom local government areas.

This is sequel to a motion on the need to urgently reconstruct an abandoned bridge linking Ikot Mbang and Ndikpo Atang communities in Ibesikpo Asutan local government area with Ikot Abass Ufat and Afia Nsit Atai communities in Nsit Ibom local government area, brought before the House by the member representing Ibesikpo Asutan, Elder Aniekan Uko, at Tuesday’s plenary

Whilepressing the motion, Elder Uko said the bridge had been long abandoned by succesive administrations in the sate, and is currently in an advanced state of disrepair, and is subjecting tje people of the communities to untold hardship.

The motion which was seconded by the member representing ONNA, Nse Essien, was further committed to the joint committees on works and NDDC for in-depth study, the report which is to be submitted to the House within two weeks.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the house has announced plans to hold a valedictory session to mark the end of the Sixth Assembly.

To this end, the Speaker of the House, Barr Onofiok Luke, has inaugurated an eight-man committee to oversee preparations for the session.

The committee has the Chief Whip, Emmanuel Ekpenyong as chairman, while Ime Okon, the Deputy Leader of the House, is to serve as deputy chairman.

Other members of the committee include: Monday Eyo, Otobong Jonathan, David Lawrence,
Asuquo Archibong, and Aniefiok Dennis, together with Mandu Umoren as clerk for the committee.

Speaker Luke while inaugurating the committee said the Sixth Assembly would officially complete its four years circle on June 7, 2019.
