A’IBOM ASSEMBLY CONFIRMS UDOM’S NOMINEES FOR BOARDS, COMMISSIONS

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly on Thursday ratified and confirmed nine nominees of Governor Udom Emmanuel for appointment into Local Government Service Commission, Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) and Law Reform Commission.

Speaking, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, said the prompt action of the House was to support and assist Governor Emmanuel to work in furtherance of the progress of Akwa Ibom.

He said the 7th Assembly will continue to be committed to the yearnings and aspirations of the people through people-oriented legislations that will aid the executive in the development of the state.

Rt. Hon. Bassey added the Governor’s nominees were “persons of proven integrity, impeccable characters and sound minds who will help drive the policy thrusts of the Udom Emmanuel’s administration in their respective designations. The Governor’s nomination of these persons has further shown that there is reward for loyalty.”

All the members at the plenary spoke in support of the nominees and expressed satisfaction over their selection.

The nominees for Local Government Service Commission were Hon. Monday Eyo (Chairman), Elder Aniekan Akpan, Otuekong Emmanuel Ibiok, Mrs. Idara Akpan, Engr. John Asikpo and Mr. Samuel Ekpenyong.

Others were Ufot Sunday Akpan and Ekpuk Eshiet, who will join AKISIEC as members, and Barrister Imowo Okpokpo, who will also join the Law Reform Commission as member.
Members present at the plenary included Princess Felicia Bassey (Okobo), Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekpenyong (INI), Barrister Aniefiok Dennis (Etinan), Rt. Hon. Nse Essien (ONNA), Rt. Hon. Aniekan Uko (Ibesikpo Asutan), Obong Godwin Ekpo (Ibiono Ibom), Udeme Otong (Abak), Dr Charity Ido (Ukanafun), Barrister Otobong Bob (Nsit Ubium), and Rt. Hon. Uduak Odudoh (Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo).

Others were Rt. Hon. Mark Esset (Nsit Atai), Rt. Hon. David Lawrence (Eket), Mr. Ifiok Udoh (Nsit Ibom), Mr. Victor Ekwere (Mkpat Enin), Mfon Idung (Ika/Etim Ekpo), Mr. Frank Asuquo (Mbo) and KufreAbasi Edidem (ITU).
