Ahead of the 2019 elections, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Ikono/INI Federal Constituency, Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, has lauded Governor Udom Emmanuel for providing a level playing ground for aspirants during the party primaries, and supporters for the mandate given him.
Obong Ukpong-Udo, who made this known on Friday at Ediene Ward-9 during a sit out rally organized in his honour by Chairman of Ikono Local Government Council, Mr. Itoro Columba, and Councillor representing the area, Mr. Ekpema Mbaba, also expressed confidence that victory for his party, the PDP, was imminent at both federal and state levels in the forthcoming elections, saying “the victory would be beneficial to Akwa Ibom and Nigeria.”
“By the grace of God we will emerge victorious both at the federal and state levels. We will all work together for the interest of the party,” he added.
Addressing over 2,000 persons in attendance including youths, women and elders of the area, Obong Ukpong-Udo, fondly called Macaire, said that the future of PDP at the centre was now brighter than it used to be.
At the event, the Ikono/INI Federal Constituency candidate, who supported over 300 youths with cash grants including the PDP Youth Leader of Ward-9, Mr. Itohowo Udonne, empowered three youths of the area, including a strong youth activist, Mr. Ekerete Udo (Stone), with three motorcycles to aid their mini-trading businesses.
Obong Ukpong-Udo also used the event to canvass votes for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Governor Udom Emmanuel and all the PDP candidates in the state, stressing that the PDP should be voted at all levels to enable Nigeria and Akwa Ibom State move forward.
Those who attended the event were PDP candidate for Ikono State Constituency, Mr. Asuquo Nana; Vice Chairman of Uyo Local Government Council, Ukai Udeme Emmanuel, and Ikono Chapter Chairman of PDP, Barrister Moses Akpan.
Chief Umoren JP (MD Owobros Hotels) also led elders of Ward-9 while the PDP Chapter Woman Leader in Ikono, Mrs. Idorenyin Okon, led women and host of others to the event.
