7TH ASSEMBLY’S LEGISLATION WILL FAST-TRACK UNPARALLELED DEVELOPMENT IN A’IBOM – DR AKPANUSOH

Member representing Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency, Dr Usoro Akpanusoh, has hinted that the 7th Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has high prospect of making people-oriented legislations that will fast-track unparallel development in the state.

Dr Akpanusoh, who is also Chairman of the House Committee on Rural Development and Public Utilities, made this known in Uyo on Wednesday while sharing his thoughts with members of AkwaIbom Legislature Team on state of the State, Akwa Ibom at 32, prospects before the 7th Assembly and sundry matters.

He expressed optimism that the achievements of the 7th Assembly will surpass those of the previous Assemblies going by the leadership style of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, and stressed that “his humility has endeared him to the entire members.”

“Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey is admired by all the members as a result of his humility. The constitution of the House Standing Committees is also a testament to this fact. There are so many indicators to this fact including the massive renovation of the entire Assembly Complex. If you take a look, you will agree with me that the Speaker will record greater achievements in this 7th Assembly,”” he said.

While commending members of the 7th Assembly for their cooperation and readiness to work for the good of the society, Dr Akpanusoh added that the Speaker’s steadfastness and commitment towards building a peaceful and formidable Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has been laudable.

On Akwa Ibom 32nd Anniversary, Chairman of the House Committee on Rural Development and Public Utilities said Akwa Ibom has been blessed with great, committed and visionary leaders, saying “It has been 32 years of progress and development. Our success story has been enviable. Look at some of the states that existed before Akwa Ibom, see where they are and see where we are. You certainly cannot compare. We have made great progress. There has been peace and harmony. Today, we have a name globally. Today, we can boast that we have kept to the dreams and path of our forebears.”
He urged the people of the state to look less on partisanship and more on the unity and progress of Akwa Ibom, maintaining that “political parties will come and go but Akwa Ibom will remain.”.

Dr Akpanusoh thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for the honour done the people of his constituency by appointing one of their sons, Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh into the State Executive Council.

On the target of his Committee, the Esit Eket/Ibeno representative expressed hope that “infrastructural development will get to many rural and urban areas of the state” during his tenure.

He said his Committee oversight will be easy because “the Governor has succeeded in turning the state from an allocation dependent state to an Industrial hub.”

The Chairman of the House Committee on Rural Development and Public Utilities further appealed to the State Governor to focus more on Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency during his second tenure for total development of the local government areas
