2019: IPAC INSISTS ON CREDIBLE ELECTION, PASSES VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON UDOM, OTHERS

The Government of Akwa Ibom State has lauded the courage and integrity displayed by the leadership and members of the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Akwa Ibom State in standing for the truth, as they reiterate their position on the December 2, 2017 local government elections in the State.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Political/Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Barrister Ekong Sampson, conveyed the appreciation while addressing the 2017 end of year gathering of IPAC in Uyo. He stressed the role of IPAC as a unifying bloc in the Akwa Ibom polity and for its patriotic spirit of prioritizing the larger interest of the State against narrow considerations.
The Special Adviser admonished members of the IPAC on the need to work in unison, while also seeing themselves as part of the larger Akwa Ibom family, irrespective of political affiliation.

The high-spirited gathering also had the Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter-party Affairs, Mr. Lawrence Udoide, State Chairman of the Congress of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP), Engr. Williams Ikpe, CNPP Secretary, Pastor Ekomobong Akpan, other executives of the CNPP in the State and others in attendance.

Barrister Sampson maintained that Governor Udom Emmanuel appreciates the efforts of IPAC in unifying the State across party lines, and that his Bureau wishes to sustain such partnership, progressively and productively in the interest of the State. He also affirmed the keen interest and commitment of the State Chairman of the ruling party, the PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo to the dreams of IPAC and CNPP, reassuring the party leaders of Governor Emmanuel’s commitment to his administration’s agenda of political inclusion.

According to the Special adviser, “Though IPAC cuts across all political persuasions, it sees Akwa Ibom State as a common destination and a collective heritage which must be preserved, shows great patriotism. Hence IPAC is living the dreams and ideals of the founding fathers of Akwa Ibom State, clearly reflecting the wish of Akwa Ibom people.”
Barrister Sampson proposed a toast to the good governance of Governor Udom Emmanuel, the prosperity of Akwa Ibom people and sustenance of the partnership of IPAC-State Government for the overall benefit of the State.

The State Chairman of IPAC, Engr. Martins Inyang, acknowledged the commitment of Governor Udom Emmanuel to the sustenance and growth of democracy in the State, and lauded the efforts of the State government in spreading development across the State.

The IPAC Chairman commended Barrister Ekong Sampson for building a bridge between the State government and the various political parties in the State and using his Bureau to create a platform for harmonious State Government-IPAC relationship. He also commended the Mr. Lawrence Udoide for his role in sustaining the confidence of IPAC in the Government.

Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter-party Affairs, Mr. Lawrence Udoide described Barrister Sampson as a perfect grassrooter and a public-spirited politician, who has added so much value to IPAC and increased the confidence of Akwa Ibom people, including leaders of political parties, in the government of the day.

Udoide said Barrister Sampson, aside his unrivalled humility and accessibility, has helped many to get access to His Excellency, the Governor. He encouraged IPAC and CNPP to remain steadfast and encourage Governor Udom Emmanuel to do more for the State.

Highpoint of the event was the declaration of a vote of confidence of IPAC on the Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, State Chairman of the PDP, Obong Paul, Special Adviser on Political/Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Barr. Ekong Sampson and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter-party Affairs, Mr. Lawrence Udoide. The motion, duly moved, seconded and adopted by the general house was declared by the State Publicity Secretary of IPAC, on behalf of the organization.
