Students of Akwa Ibom State have warned those championing a campaign of calumny against the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, with the sole purpose of setting him on a collision course with the Presidency and the Federal Government of Nigeria not to paint a nonexistence picture of religious war, saying the “Governor remains Governor for all residents of the state.”
The students, under the aegis of Sign-On For Udom 2019 Students’ Wing, which cut across all the tertiary institutions in the state, gave the warning on Thursday when they called on the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Barrister Ekong Sampson.
Speaking on behalf of the students, Comrade Harrison Etefia, said the student were not intimidated by the level of blackmail against the Governor but remained committed to the School-to-School Mobilization Campaign for the Governor’s reelection in 2019.
Comrade Etefia, who further said the integrity and vision that the Governor has demonstrated have endeared him to the students and the people of the state, assured that they will continue to mobilize support across the campuses for the Governor.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor in the Bureau of Political, Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Barrister Ekong Sampson, thanked the students for the honour done the Governor and for rising to protect their future.
Barrister Sampson, who expressed delight over the students’ interest in the Sign-On for Udom 2019 project, informed them that the State Governor was on firm ground to being reelected in 2019.
On the alleged religious war in Akwa Ibom, the Special Adviser also advised those who go to Abuja “not to paint a nonexistence picture of religious war. They should be honest enough to tell the Presidency that they are not working for the President but for themselves. Governor Udom Emmanuel is Governor for all. He is someone that habours no discrimination. Akwa Ibom State Government exists for everybody.”
He maintained that Akwa Ibom has remained a destination of choice for investors, Nigeria and the world.
