Philanthropist and Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate for Ikono/INI Federal Constituency seat, Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, has congratulated former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on his emergence as the party’s Presidential candidate for 2019 general election, saying “his victory at the just concluded presidential primary election is victory for PDP and victory for Nigeria.”

Speaking with journalists shortly after the National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, announced Alhaji Abubakar as winner, Obong Ukpong-Udo expressed delight and satisfaction on the emergence.

“Just as Governor Udom Emmanuel’s reelection as PDP Governorship candidate for 2019 is hope for Akwa Ibom and its people, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s victory at the PDP Presidential primary is a victory for PDP, Nigerians and Nigeria. By that victory, PDP will defeat the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom and at the centre in 2019 and take over Aso Rock. I am optimistic that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will leverage on his track record as an entrepreneur and great employer of labour, which I am a beneficiary, to grow Nigeria’s economy,” Obong Ukpong-Udo said.

The Ikono/INI House of Representatives’ candidate also applauded other aspirants who took part in the freest election conducted in the history of PDP, urging them stand together in support of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and PDP in the forthcoming general election.

While commending the other aspirants for demonstrating the spirit of sportsmanship, Obong Ukpong-Udo described Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as a leader with requisite experience and knowledge to lead Nigeria.

He assured the people of Akwa Ibom State, particularly the people of his Federal Constituency that PDP would not rest until it returns Nigeria to the part of rule of law, good governance and the security of lives and property.


Obong Ukpong-Udo also thanked the National Chairman of the party, members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and Akwa Ibom delegates on the success of the 2018 PDP National Convention.
