It promises to be an assemblage of political bigwigs in the state as Akwa Ibom State Coordinator of Atiku Abubakar 2019 Campaign Organization, Otuekong Emmanuel Ibiok, mobilized youths, elders, and women for Governor Udom Emmanuel’s reelection and Atiku Abubakar’s Presidential ambition on the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).
Otuekong Ibiok, a founding member of the PDP, said Governor Emmanuel as a blessing to the state and described as laudable, the administration’s commitment to infrastructural development, free and compulsory education, youth empowerment, free medical care among others numerous achievements.
According to him, “Atiku Abubakar and Governor Udom Emmanuel meet our criteria for the calibre of a President and Governor desired by Nigeria and Akwa Ibom State.”
He tasked Akwa Ibom people to queue behind the Atiku Abubakar presidency and Governor Emmanuel’s second term bid, maintaining that they will bring tremendous benefits to the Nigeria and the state when they emerged.
This was contained in a press statement the Media Directorate of the Organization and made available to newsmen in Uyo.
According to the statement, “Akwa Ibom State has been made a model for other states and indeed, Nigeria to emulate. It has been known to be the home of peace, hospitality, unity and progress. We want these virtues to continue. We don’t want any of these selfish people clamouring for the presidency and Governorship to come and enrich themselves at the expense of the people of the state. We have seen the zeal and sincerity of purpose in former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Governor Udom Emmanuel. That is why we are strategically and intensively mobilizing the people at the grassroots for them. Our interaction with the people has also shown that they want the duo to lead them in 2019 and beyond.”
Otuekong Ibiok added that “We reasoned that the former Vice President and Governor Emmanuel are people who do not stir controversy and have proved themselves worthy of understanding our values, aspirations and desires especially as it relates to our political future. We believe that they understand our pulse.”
He further explained that the Organization, which he coordinates, is an interest and mass mobilization organization that will always stand by the truth and give support to whom the cap fits, irrespective of ethnic leanings, and therefore called on the people of the state to rally round the Abubakar and Emmanuel in the forthcoming 2019 general elections, adding that “They are the only people with vision to maintain Nigeria and Akwa Ibom as the giant of Africa and a land of promised and fulfillment.”
