UDOM TASKS LG TRANSITION COMMITTEES TO PREPARE FOR EXIT

The present Local Government Transition Committee in Akwa Ibom State which tenure expires next month would soon be dissolved and a new Committee set up to administer the councils pending the conduct of election for the third tier of government.
Governor Udom Emmanuel announced this during the June edition of monthly prayer meeting held at Latter House Chapel, Governors Lodge, Uyo.
Governor Emmanuel premised the proposed dissolution on the need to align with the constitutional provisions regulating Local Government administration in the state and said that the new Committee would comprise men of requisite pedigree and proven integrity who would be selected from various zones in their respective area councils to avoid acrimony.
He dispelled as rumour the purported reshuffle of the State Executive Council peddled by a section of the media and called on those serving in that capacity to carry out their duties with renewed zeal and diligence.
Governor Emmanuel informed the people that despite the reduction in the fiscal allocation accruing the state, his administration would continue to ensure that the welfare of its work force is given priority and that he would deploy his expertise to ensure that workers salaries are paid and that projects earmarked for execution are carried out for the benefit of the people.
He, however, wandered the source of the whopping allocation the State is said to receive as speculated and urged the people to cross check their facts in order not to misinform the people for their selfish interest.
The Governor announced that fabrication for syringe Manufacturing and Coconut Refinery are on course and would soon be installed at the sites and that God has made provision for the state to survive the economic challenges stress that the challenge is to rekindle the entrepreneurial spirit in us.
In his sermon, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious Matters, Rev. Daniel Akwatang charged the people to reconcile with God noting that Nations have either by omission or commission offended God by enthroning carnality and other bestial life style which tends to attract the prevailing drought in economy of the world.
Reverend Akwatang who culled his text from the Book of Isaiah Chapter 32 verse 9 said that spiritual complacency attracts a closed haven and that poverty is an indicator of the consequences of sin.
While calling on people to seek God in repentance for healing and material break through, the Minister thanked God for the vision and guidance o the Governor which has able him discharge the programmes envisioned despite the economic crunch.
The service which featured song rendition, prayers for the state, nation and various arms of government was attended by the first family, members of the State Executive Council and other appointees in the government.
